Project Breakdown

Brisbane Airport Industrial Park (AIP) is located at the southern end of the Brisbane Airport holding. It is one of Australia’s premium industrial zones, with five stages primed for development across the master-planned 100-hectare zone.

Solar Set assisted Brisbane Airport with sustainability focus throughout 2023, installing commercial solar energy generation of 2.4MW across four industrial developments.

Approximately 5,500 PV solar panels were installed to the rooftops of major tenants BSR Group, RSEA Safety Aramex and Schneider Electric.

In 2024, a further 1.2MW is scheduled to be installed on the rooftops of Direct Couriers, GE Aviation and GEODIS.

The combined generation capacity is around 450 times the size of standard household systems and contributes back to the electricity grid.

We’re extremely proud of our partnership with Brisbane Airport Corporation and the work we have completed on their behalf. The installation, management and performance of these systems has been in accordance with the highest levels of safety and quality standards and demonstrate our technical capability and capacity to deliver at scale.

Working within and around Brisbane Airport has required alternative solutions to safety protocols and management of some installation activities, for example:

  • High wind areas with strict restrictions on permissible activities
  • Highly corrosive environment requiring high quality materials
  • In depth approval processes with many stakeholders
  • Navigating area restrictions and security requirements
  • Strict safety requirements

This project contributes to Brisbane Airport’s commitment to be net zero by 2025 and their ambition to create a sustainable world-leading airport city.
