Robina sits several kilometres back from the coast, and that changes what a good solar system looks like here. The suburb’s master-planned estates were largely built through the 1990s and 2000s, which means predictable roof pitches, generous north-facing aspects, and on most streets enough roof area to size a system properly rather than squeezing panels in wherever they fit.

The homeowner had quality Tindo panels from a previous house and wanted them reused rather than scrapped. We designed around that, combining new Australian-made panels with their existing array through a single three-phase inverter.

What matters on a Robina roof
Roof type and aspect
Estate homes are dominated by concrete tile and Colorbond with simple, well-oriented planes, usually allowing a clean north-facing array without splitting across three aspects. Tile needs proper tile-replacement mounting rather than brute-forced brackets.
Climate and exposure
No direct salt-spray exposure this far inland, but humidity, summer storm season and hail all matter. Inverters mounted in full western sun run hot and derate, so we place them where they stay shaded and ventilated.
Shading
Properties backing onto the Robina and Mudgeeraba bushland corridors need genuine shade modelling rather than an assumption. Where shading is unavoidable, panel-level optimisation earns its cost. Where it is not, it usually does not.
Network connection
Robina is on the Energex network. Every system needs a connection application before commissioning, and export limits apply. We lodge the paperwork for you.
Council and body corporate
Robina falls under the City of Gold Coast. Most detached homes need no planning approval. Townhouses and units usually require body corporate sign-off, which is almost always the slowest part of the job.

How much does solar cost in Robina?
Cost depends on system size, roof type and whether you add a battery. A tile roof and a two-storey home add labour compared with a single-storey Colorbond build. We quote on your actual roof after assessing it, and the federal STC discount is applied upfront so the price you see is the price after rebate.
Do I need a battery in Robina?
Not necessarily. A battery makes the strongest case if you use most of your power in the evening, you have high consumption, or you want backup through storm season. If you are home during the day and your consumption is modest, a well-sized solar system alone often has the better payback. We model both before recommending either.
What size solar system do most Robina homes need?
Most four-bedroom estate homes in Robina land between 10kW and 13.2kW, driven by air conditioning and pool loads. Smaller households and townhouses are often well served at 6.6kW. Your bills are the starting point, not your roof size.
Do Robina townhouses and units need body corporate approval?
Usually, yes. Any installation touching common property or the external appearance of the building typically needs body corporate sign-off. Start that process early — it is almost always the longest lead time in the job, well ahead of anything technical.
Does Robina need coastal-rated panels?
Robina is far enough inland that direct salt-spray corrosion is much less of a factor than it is at Burleigh or Palm Beach. Humidity, heat and storm season still matter, so we specify equipment and mounting rated for a subtropical Queensland climate. On genuinely beachfront jobs we step up to a higher corrosion rating.
My Robina system is over ten years old. Repair or replace?
It depends on your feed-in tariff. Some older Queensland systems still sit on legacy tariffs worth protecting, in which case repairing the inverter is the better move. Others are better replaced and expanded. We check your tariff before recommending anything, because getting that wrong can cost you more than the repair.
How long does installation take?
Most Robina residential installs are a single day. Adding a battery, upgrading a switchboard or working on a two-storey roof can extend it to two. Connection approval and meter reconfiguration by Energex happen after the install and are the usual reason for a wait before you are exporting.
