Solar Design & Engineering

Our in-house RPEQ engineer designs and certifies every solar, battery and EV system we install across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Northern NSW.

RPEQ Engineering

Solar Set is one of the few solar installers with a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) on staff. Our engineer is also an accredited PV system designer and an electrical engineer, registered in Victoria (RPEV) and on Engineers Australia’s National Engineering Register (NER). The person who designs your system is qualified to certify it, so your project never waits on an outside consultant.

One team designs, certifies and installs your system, so nothing is lost between the drawing and the roof.

Queensland law requires professional engineering work to be carried out by an RPEQ, or under the direct supervision of one. Most installers send that work to an outside consultant and wait for the report to come back. We do it ourselves, which takes that wait out of your timeline.

Keeping design in-house also keeps it accurate. Our engineer works alongside the installation team, so the drawings match the roof, the switchboard and the network rules the system is built for.

Our engineer has designed solar and battery systems for demanding commercial sites, including schools, airports and retail centres. Solar Set has delivered more than 72 MW across 500+ commercial sites since 2011, including 2.6 MW at the Brisbane Airport Industrial Park, 1.2 MW for Aramex and 1.1 MW across Veolia Australia sites. A family home gets the same design standard.

Engineering services for solar, battery and EV systems

We design, certify and connect systems for businesses, industrial sites, strata and homes. You can engage us for a full installation or for the engineering on its own.

Solar, Battery and EV System Design

We design each system for the site it will sit on, from roof structure and shading to switchboard capacity and the way you use power across the day. Designs follow the Australian Standards for PV arrays, grid-connected inverters and battery installations (AS/NZS 5033, AS/NZS 4777 and AS/NZS 5139). A system designed properly on paper is far more likely to pass inspection the first time.

Design Certification Report (DCR)

A Design Certification Report is our engineer’s signed confirmation that the system design meets the relevant standards and the needs of the site. Many commercial projects need one before work can start. Because we write it in-house, it arrives with the design rather than weeks after it.

Compliance Report (CR)

A Compliance Report records that the finished installation was built to the approved design and the relevant standards. It gives owners, insurers and network providers a documented record of what is on the roof. It also gives you a clear starting point for future upgrades and audits.

Power Quality Testing and Analysis

We measure how power behaves at your switchboard before and after a system goes in, including voltage, current and harmonics. The results show whether equipment is tripping or wearing early because of supply problems. Finding the cause protects your equipment and the output of your system.

DNSP Network Connection Applications

Every grid-connected system needs approval from the local network provider: Energex or Ergon Energy in Queensland, and Essential Energy in Northern NSW. We prepare and lodge the application, including the technical detail larger systems need. Our engineer answers the network’s questions directly, which keeps your connection moving.

Tell us about your site and we will explain what the engineering involves. Call 1300 330 923 or send us your details for a free quote.
